Grimaldi Group

The Grimaldi group is a shipping company dedicated to the maritime transport of passengers and goods based in Naples (Italy). It employs around 15,000 people and controls a fleet of more than 130 ships operating in 130 ports in 47 countries on four continents and manages 21 terminals worldwide.

The group operates with companies Grimaldi Lines in the Mediterranean (Sardinia, Sicily, Spain, Greece, Malta, Tunisia and Morocco), Finnlines in the Baltic Sea (Finland, Germany and Sweden), Minoan Lines for internal Greek connections (Piraeus-Crete and Crete- Cyclades Islands) and Trasmed for the Peninsula – Balearic Islands connections.

With the incorporation of Trasmed, the group takes advantage of the synergies with its other passenger and freight lines in the Mediterranean that link Barcelona with Sardinia (Porto Torres) and Civitavecchia (Rome) operated by Grimaldi Lines. Regarding the transport of ro-ro cargo, the Grimaldi group operates on the lines between Valencia and Sardinia (Cagliari), Salerno, Savona and Livorno; on Atlantic lines with destinations to West Africa, Northern Europe and North and South America.

Sustainability

The lines between Barcelona, Valencia, Livorno and Savona are operated by the four greenest ECO hybrid ships on the ro-ro cargo transport market. These are the largest ships in the world for short sea shipping and also the most ecological, since when they are moored they use the energy stored by lithium batteries and solar panels, so they have 'zero emissions' in port.

In addition to investing in state-of-the-art vessels and with an eye toward the goal of decarbonization, the Grimaldi group has announced the upcoming installation in the port of Barcelona of a photovoltaic plant with 2,000 panels of 400W power each, which will produce an amount of energy greater than the annual consumption of the terminal.
